Disney Newport Bay Club
New England and Nautical theming
Newport Bay Club is a 4 star hotel described as a inviting you to set sail to a majestic seaside resort, blending classic Disney Characters like Mickey and Minnie with relaxed elegance.
This hotel has a classic nautical theming and features characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy. It feels very classically Disney, down to the hidden Mickeys in the carpets, but it is also a very large hotel so can feel overwhelming.
As with all the onsite hotels you get access to Early Magic Hour when staying here so you can access the Disney Parks one hour before general opening.
The hotel has a bar and a buffet restaurant open for breakfast and dinner.
Introduction and Overview

Location and Park Access
Newport Bay Club is located on Lake Disney, it is slightly further from the parks than Hotel New York, about the same as Sequoia Lodge and slightly closer than Cheyenne and Santa Fe.
There is a free, wheelchair accessible, shuttle bus to and from the bus station next to the train station by the main security entrance to the parks and village. This runs every 10-20 minutes, and while it will often take longer than walking it does cut out some of the walking if there is a need to conserve energy where possible. It's worth noting at the hotel there is no curb where the bus stops so the ramp can be steep and I would recommend having someone behind you when using it!
To walk to the parks you would walk around the lake to a security checkpoint only really used by Newport Bay Club Hotel guests. This checkpoint is usually quieter than the one by Hotel New York but it usually doesn't have a dedicated Priority Pass lane. You would then pass by McDonalds and then walk through the village. The walk is well paved, well lit and mostly flat, with some opportunities to rest on walls and benches on the route.

Newport Bay is a beautiful hotel and I love the theming, and always feel like it feels quite plush and luxurious, but I don't stay at it as often as some of the others, mostly due to the accessible room layout of a double and bunk beds, which rarely works for me.
On the positive side all floors and all rooms are accessible by lift, and because it has a pool with an accessible shower this means that sometimes I can manage in a standard room rather than an accessible one, even with the standard rooms all having baths. The reception desk has a lowered desk that can be used to check in, and the public toilets in the hotel all have accessible cubicles.
The area around the hotel is mostly smooth flagstones and inside is a combination of wooden floors and a very deep pile carpet in the corridors, corridors which can already feel never ending before you add in trying to self propel on the carpet!
The doors to exit towards the park are 2 sets, the interior set is not automatic and can be a bit unwieldy to get through solo, but the exterior set is automatic.
To get from the main reception level to the restaurants and exit to walk to the parks you need to use a lift, which is very small. I do manage to fit in with my manual chair with a power attachment on but it's a squeeze and there can be a queue. However I have heard of people having mobility scooters not fit and there is no easy way round the building to an alternate door like there is at Sequia Lodge. There are however doors near the swimming the pool that exit to outside with a ramp, but coming back from the parks you may need someone else to go inside and go all the way round to open them for you.
General Hotel Accessibility
Compass Club
Compass Club is the club level at Newport Bay and comes with some additional benefits. The price difference between a standard room and club level will vary so only you can decide based on your own booking if it is worth paying extra but, some of the perks particularly useful with a disability, especially if you already plan to come back to the hotel during the day for a break/rest!
The Benefits of Compass Club
There benefits can be split into room benefits, general benefits and the Compass Club Lounge.
Room Benefits
The Compass Club rooms are not that different to standard rooms but there are a couple of differences:
- They are on the top floors and closer to the middle of the building, so generally closer to lifts
- They have a small mini fridge in the room
- There is a turn down service with the beds being turned down a little, chocolate coins left and a nautical themed story card left
- They come with robes and slippers
- There are extra room types available, specifically family rooms which sleep 5 or 6.
General Benefits
- A separate, usually quiet, reception for check in and any queries
- The reception will take your luggage and take it your room on arrival day, and will collect it from your room to store it for you on your departure day (this is a really nice extra when dealing with a wheelchair and cases!)
The Compass Club Lounge
The Compass Club Lounge is a separate lounge area, located opposite the hotel bar, which is available from noon on the day of check in until 11am on the day of departure, the lounge provides:
- Breakfast between 7am and 11am
- Non Alcoholic soft drinks and hot drinks between noon and 11pm, you can drink these in the lounge or takeaway cups can be provided
- Afternoon snacks served as a buffet between 3-5pm
- You can also order drinks and snacks from the bar to be served here, but these are chargeable at the same price as at the bar.
Rooms
Standard (Superior) rooms at Newport Bay either have 2 double beds and sleep up to four, plus an infant, or have a large double and sleep up to two adults, plus an infant. A travel cot is provided for infants and the beds cannot be split into singles.
They have air conditioning and include drink making facilities as standard, consisting of a kettle and a coffee machine (Lavazza Blue, if you want to bring your own pods, though they are replenished daily). They do not have fridges except in Compass Club rooms. They do have in room safes, an iron and an ironing board.
Standard bathrooms have a bath (though it has quite low sides) with a shower over. They provide shower gel, soap, shampoo and conditioner. These are replenished daily as required. There is a hairdryer but it is not very powerful.
The sink area is just outside the bathroom door which can be handy if one person is showering and one wants to use the sink to get ready.
There is a TV, but very limited channels and no option to log into anything like Disney Plus, and they are in a dresser so accessing ports to connect to another device could be difficult.
Electrical outlets are not as bad as at some Disney hotels but do have some limitations. Most are located in a drop down panel in the dresser, the shape of this can make some adaptors difficult or even impossible to fit into the socket. I would recommend bringing an extension lead and at least one EU adaptor, though there is a UK socket available.
While these non-accessible rooms have a bath the sides are relatively low and there is a bench next to the bath at one end. I have also found them to be spacious enough to fit my chair into most areas, but it would not be possible to get a wheelchair close to the toilet in these rooms due to the door to the bathroom blocking it.
Standard Room Tour Video
This video from Fairy Godmother shows a room tour of a standard room, and also other areas of the hotel and hotel information.
Accessible Rooms
Accessible rooms also sleep up to four plus an infant but they consist of one double bed and one set of bunks beds, to this layout can be difficult for many, particularly groups of adults.
The floor is carpeted, and this is quite deep pile, but there is space to move around in a wheelchair. The bed is on legs with space to fit a hoist underneath (though Disney do not provide these, but can help with hiring them). The room safe and hanging rails can be reached and there is a lower level peephole in the door. The door itself is heavy and there is a wooden threshold.
There are no emergency cords. There are some plug sockets available but I would always recommend bringing an extension and multiplug, especially if you need items to be plugged in by the bed. Don't forget an EU adaptor!
The accessible bathroom is a large wetroom with a sliding door. There is a sink area with space to roll under, a raised toilet with a grab rail and a shower. Within the shower there is a fold down shower seat.

This hotel shop has a really impressive sailor Mickey statue and sells a range of merchandise. It sells some pandora charms, and also sells a small selection of drinks and snacks, including cartons of milk.
You can collect the discovery quest prize here and they also sometimes have stickers available on request. At Christmas time you can write a letter to Santa here.

Close to the pool, details of which are below, there is also a fitness centre available. Towels are provided and there are showers, with shower gel, and toilets available.
Pool Information
Nantucket Pool Accessibility
Newport Bay Club has a beautiful indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub which can be great for a break from the parks. The outdoor pool is a really good size and is lovely for relaxing by in the summer months, especially if it gets very hot. The pool has step free access from within the hotel. Towels are provided at the Pool when you check in.
A self propellable pool wheelchair is available.
Pool hoists are available. The pool has stepped access, including a handrail, rather than a ladder. Some swim aids are also available.
There is an accessible changing room with a fixed bench, an accessible toilet which is spacious but doesn't have many grab rails and an accessible shower. Shower gel is provided.
You can meet characters in the hotel every evening. The meeting point is in the reception area, right by the reception desks.
The most common characters to meet here are Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald or Daisy and they are here in special nautical themed outfits.
The meet is usually between about 3.15pm and 4.55pm and 6.30pm-9.10pm, but these times often vary, there will be a sign in reception showing the times each day. There is usually a photopass photographer.
For priority pass holders they usually have a separate marked queue, if this is not in place you can ask a cast member.

Dining Options
Newport Bay Club has two restaurants, Cape Cod which is an all you can eat buffet, and Yacht Club which is a table service restaurant. It also has a bar, Captains Quarters.
Cape Cod
Cape Cod is a buffet which serves breakfast and dinner. It can be booked on the app, but is also often has last minute availability. You do not need to book breakfast.
Breakfast (served 7-11am) has a wide selection and includes both hot and cold items. Gluten free bread and cakes/biscuits are available upon request and soy milk and dairy free spread are also available.
The dinner buffet (open from 6pm) serves a range of foods, including salads, vegan options and desserts. It also has a focus on seafood dishes, and often has a very popular chocolate fountain.
Yacht Club
Yacht Club is a table service restaurant, though it is also used for the buffet breakfast.
The menu has a bit of a focus on seafood but does have other options and there is both a set menu or a la carte option. The menu can be found here, or on the Disneyland Paris app. Currently this restaurant is not open every day, usually only Thursday-Sunday, but it can be booked on the App.

Captains Quarters Bar

Captains Quarters is a table service bar serving a range of themed cocktails, mocktails and other drinks and with a small food menu. The food menu includes some sandwiches and some desserts and can be found on the Disneyland Paris App.
It's a comfortable, well themed space, with a mixture of seating options including sofas, tables and chairs and bar seating. It also has lovely views out over lake Disney towards Hotel New York.
As this is a Disney Hotel it can be booked directly with Disneyland Paris, which is what I would recommend, especially if requiring an accessible room. Accessible rooms can't be booked online so you do need to call to reserve them.
You are able to contact the hotel concierge via email to arrange things like paid for in room packages and for help with restaurant bookings, they can also make a note of requests like to be closer to the lifts, but they cannot arrange accessible rooms, they must be organised through the main reservations team.
The email for the hotel concierge is DLP.NPB.GUEST.RELATIONS@disney.com and for guests staying Compass Club it's DLP.NPB.COMPASS.CLUB@disney.com

Guest Reviews
"I think the theming at Newport Bay is beautiful and it feels comfortable and plush, but it is a very large hotel and it can feel busy, along with it feeling like some of the corridors are never-ending. It's nice to have a pool and an option for breakfast in bed, and the location by the lake is lovely. The main downside for me other than the tiny lift down to the village exit is the room layout for the accessible rooms, a double bed and bunk beds is not a good layout for me."
